Le Surcyclage, ou Upcycling en anglais, est bien plus qu’un simple recyclage.
Il s’agit d’un processus de transformation qui consiste à récupérer des matières, des substances ou même des produits finis pour leur offrir une nouvelle vie.
Plutôt que de les réduire à leur matière première, on les réinvente, on les sublime et on leur donne une fonction différente de leur usage initial.
Ce procédé créatif ne se contente pas de prolonger l’existence d’un objet : il le valorise. Le produit fini gagne en singularité, en caractère et en valeur ajoutée, devenant souvent plus désirable que l’objet de départ.
Leather is a noble material used since the dawn of time.
What could be more natural, then, than wanting to make it last?
Some prefer to salvage old leather accessories or clothes and transform them into something new.
As for me, I choose to valorize discarded leather and leather scraps. These leathers are NEW and destined for the scrap heap, either because they are too small, or because there is a defect somewhere on the hide, just in one or two spots. So that nothing goes to waste, I transform and create. This is also upcycling

Occi-Tanne is the story of a turning point, of a life that decides to slow down in order to better reinvent itself. I spent a long time searching for what else I could do, exploring several paths without finding my way. Yet, one constant drove me: my taste for aesthetics, my fascination with materials and textures, and my desire to create with my own hands.
This is how the desire to shape light, to play with volumes, and to give a second life to forgotten materials took shape. Creations in upcycled leather and second-hand jewelry have become my allies in telling a different story: that of sustainable, assertive, and deeply personal fashion.
Occi-Tanne was thus born from this quest, where each creation becomes the reflection of meticulous work and a passion for the beautiful, the ethical, and the unique.

The work is entirely artisanal: elements are cut, adjusted, and hand-stitched, with attention paid to every stitch, every balance, every detail.
The process requires time, trials, and constant adjustments. Nothing is fixed in advance: the piece evolves as it is built.
This is what gives it its unique character. Each creation is the result of bespoke work, guided by the materials themselves and the encounters they make possible.

Creating an Occi-Tanne bag usually requires a full day of manufacturing, and sometimes more depending on the complexity of the piece.
Each bag is custom-made: the materials guide the adjustments, the details are decided in the process, and nothing is entirely fixed in advance.
In reality, the reflection begins long beforehand. Leathers, jewelry, and textiles are never available at the same time. Creation is therefore born from a long period of research and association of ideas, until the moment when certain materials naturally meet. There is that precise moment when everything aligns: the leather is there, the jewelry too, and the obvious appears: the two can work together.
It is this living process that makes each creation unique and gives full meaning to the manufacturing time.

The images are designed to show the piece as it is, but also as it lives. The photos are taken between shadow and light, in order to reveal the different shades of the leather, its colour variations, as well as the reflections and brilliance of the integrated jewellery.
These plays of light do not transform the creation: they simply reveal all its facets, as you will perceive them daily, when it lives alongside you.
